7 LIFE BOAT THEORY
7.1 In an ocean going passenger ship life boats are
provided for unforeseen disasters.
However, the number of lifeboats is limited and the capacity is not enough for
all the passengers
and crew. In case of a disaster a deliberate decision is made as to who will be
saved and who
would not be.
7.2 This theory has come into play. The Western world
has started refusing to educate
students from the third world in certain subjects / technologies. Sale of
selected goods and
transfer of some technologies are also being refused.
7.3 For the third world it has become important to
develop its own technologies especially
in the field of agriculture and not depend on others.
