10 PICKING, TRASH CONTENT AND CONTAMINATION.
10.1 Pakistani cotton are hand-picked and therefore, should be
the of cleanest cottons available. Yet our cottons contain large amount
of trash and are contaminated by Hessian and Poly Propylene fibres which
not only create difficulty in spinning but produce catastrophic results
in dyeing.
Due to these contaminations and trash our cotton sell at a discount
as compared to other similar cottons.
10.2 It must be remembered that however carefully seed cotton
may have been picked some foreign matter is bound to be picked up along
with it. This foreign matter must be removed in order to spin yarn of acceptable
quality. Foreign matter in harvested cotton varies according to the method
of picking. Typical ranges of foreign matter is given in Table 11.

10.3 American cottons are machine picked/machine stripped and,
therefore, are dirtier than Pakistan cottons. After ginning, they are cleaner
than Pakistan cotton and contain no contamination. As against this Pakistan
cotton not only contain lot of trash but are contaminated as well.
