13. STATE OF THE ART OF GINNING:

13.l In Pakistan, cotton g-inning could hardly be called an industry. It is actually an economic activity centered around a ginning factory. The ginner is, by tradition a buyer of seed cotton and seller of lint and seed. Cotton ginner is there-fore not a ginner but is a consumer of seed cotton and seller of lint and cotton seed. From ginner being a merchant has stemmed the evil of ginners pre-occupation with Ginning Out Turn (GOT). The lint is by far the most valuable of the products and hence greater the quantity of lint, the ginner obtains more money. The introduction of malpractices was therefore only one step ahead.
