15 GINNING RESEARCH.

15.1 In ginning research, USA is the leader. However, some research has also been done in the past by England and France. This was mostly in their colonies. Research is also being carried out in Australia and Turkey. In Pakistan, no research whatsoever has been done or is -planned to be done on ginning. All the data available is for American cottons under American conditions. There is a great need to generate data concerning Pakistani cottons under Pakistani conditions. Sometimes ago it was decided to set up a Ginning Research Institute with the collaboration of Asian Development Bank, That project was a non-starter from the beginning. However, PCCC must be directed to establish a Ginning Research Institute in Multan to:

i) Carry out research on ginning to determine ideal combination of machines, pre-cleaning equipment, number of saws, speeds, etc.

ii) Carry out research for improvement of locally manufactured ginning machinery.

iii) Train ginning factory workers.
